🏉 WFR XXXI — OFFICIAL ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT
MATCH ENGINE UPDATE — INJURY & SUBSTITUTION SYSTEM FIXED
World Fantasy Rugby | Season XXXI | Administration Notice
World Fantasy Rugby Administration wishes to advise all club owners and managers that an important update has been made to the WFR XXXI Match Engine, addressing an issue with the injury and player replacement system.
🔧 WHAT HAS BEEN FIXED?
We identified an issue where players suffering injuries during matches were not always being replaced by the correct positional reserves.
The match engine has now been updated to use the correct 23-player matchday squad structure, ensuring that injured players are replaced according to their designated positions.
The updated substitution rules are:
Props (#1 & #3): Replaced by reserves #17 or #18.
Hooker (#2): Replaced by reserve #16.
Locks (#4 & #5): Replaced by reserves #19 or #20.
Loose Forwards (#6–#8): Replaced by reserves #19 or #20.
Scrumhalf (#9): Replaced by reserve #21.
First Five & Backs (#10–#15): Replaced by reserves #22 or #23.
The engine has also been updated to correctly recognise all eight matchday reserves and improve the recording of injuries during matches.
🧪 TESTING & VERIFICATION
The revised injury replacement system underwent extensive testing through eight trial matches involving 21 injury substitutions, with all observed replacements following the programmed positional rules.
These tests included the successful replacement of an injured starting scrumhalf by the designated reserve scrumhalf.
The updated system has now been incorporated into our WFR match engine code, with further monitoring continuing during Season XXXI.
🚨 CLUB OWNERS — PLEASE REPORT ANY ISSUES ASAP!
Although extensive testing has been carried out, we ask all WFR club owners and managers to remain vigilant.
If you notice ANY unusual behaviour, incorrect substitutions, unexpected player changes, injury reporting errors, or other possible match engine bugs, please report them to WFR Administration AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
When reporting an issue, please include the match, teams involved, a description of the problem and, where possible, a screenshot or relevant section of the match report.
Even if you are unsure whether something is a bug, please report it so we can investigate.
🏆 OUR COMMITMENT
World Fantasy Rugby continues to improve its match simulation systems to deliver a fair, accurate and enjoyable competition for everyone.
Thank you to all our club owners for your patience, feedback and continued support as we move through WFR Season XXXI.
