🏆 WFR XXXI EARTHQUAKE TROPHY — QUARTER-FINAL REVIEW
THE FINAL FOUR ARE SET — AND TWO QUARTER-FINALS BECAME ABSOLUTE DEMOLITIONS!
The Earthquake Trophy has exploded into life.
Four quarter-finals produced Silverstream Wild, Wellington Dolphins, Peninsula Pioneers and Edinburgh Cannon as the last clubs standing — but they reached the semi-finals in dramatically different fashion.
Silverstream and Wellington produced two extraordinary statements, combining for 137 points while conceding only 12. Edinburgh Cannon weren't far behind with a 48–7 demolition of Capitol, while the Peninsula Pioneers had to survive the only genuine knockout thriller of the round.
And now there is no safety net.
Saturday 26 September 2026: two semi-finals. Straight knockout. Win — and you're playing for the Earthquake Trophy.
⚡ QUARTER-FINAL #1
BORDEAUX LES DAMIERS 12–65 SILVERSTREAM WILD
WILD RUN RIOT — 41–0 BY HALFTIME!
Silverstream didn't simply qualify for the semi-finals.
They blew the quarter-final apart in 40 minutes.
Tawera Kerr-Barlow opened proceedings with a brilliant seventh-minute drop goal before Jordie Barrett crossed three minutes later. Jone Nareki, Will Jordan, Devan Flanders and Taine Tata followed as Bordeaux found themselves trapped in a nightmare.
By halftime:
BORDEAUX 0–41 SILVERSTREAM
Six different scoring blows — and the contest was effectively finished.
Silverstream didn't stop.
Stephen Perofeta, Salesi Rayasi and Riley Higgins added second-half tries before Nareki completed his double in the 74th minute.
Bordeaux finally found some reward through Dorian Aldegheri and Clement Laporte, but by then the Wild had disappeared over the horizon.
Silverstream finished with nine tries, Jordie Barrett landed seven conversions and a penalty, and Kerr-Barlow supplied the drop goal. They controlled a staggering 71.25% possession and spent 57 minutes in opposition territory.
⭐ WFR TV STAR — JORDIE BARRETT
Try + 7 conversions + penalty = 22 points.
And don't overlook Jone Nareki's two tries.
🚑 Bordeaux also lost Thibaud Flament to an injury listed at 2–3 games.

🐬 QUARTER-FINAL #2
GALWAY GREYHOUNDS 0–72 WELLINGTON DOLPHINS
SEVENTY-TWO! DOLPHINS PRODUCE A KNOCKOUT MASTERCLASS
This was astonishing.
Wellington led 34–0 at halftime.
Then they scored another 38 unanswered points.
Galway — a Premiership semi-finalist in WFR XXX — finished the entire match without scoring a single point.
TJ Perenara started the avalanche after only three minutes. Carter Gordon converted and then kicked a penalty. Bailyn Sullivan followed with his first try, George Dyer crossed, and Damian Penaud made it four first-half tries as Wellington marched into halftime 34–0 ahead.
And Sullivan was nowhere near finished.
He scored again at 55 minutes.
Then again at 60.
🎩 BAILYN SULLIVAN — QUARTER-FINAL HAT-TRICK!
Carter Gordon eventually joined the try scorers himself before Josh Moorby completed the rout.
The final numbers are ridiculous:
Wellington 72–0 Galway.
9 tries.
77.5% possession.
Carter Gordon 9/9 conversions.
Galway: zero points.
Gordon also kicked three penalties and scored a try himself.
⭐ WFR TV STAR — CARTER GORDON
1 try + 9/9 conversions + 3 penalties = 32 POINTS!
But the hat must also come off to Bailyn Sullivan — three tries in a knockout match.
No injuries. No yellow cards. No red cards.
Just an extraordinary Wellington performance.

🔥 QUARTER-FINAL #3
PENINSULA PIONEERS 24–20 NEW MEXICO DIABLOS
THE COMEBACK! — PIONEERS STEAL A FOUR-POINT THRILLER
Finally — knockout rugby with the pulse racing!
This was completely different from the first two quarter-finals.
Noah Hotham's third-minute drop goal gave Peninsula the lead, but Teddy Williams answered for New Mexico before AJ MacGinty struck his own drop goal.
HALFTIME: PIONEERS 3–8 DIABLOS.
Then Oscar Lennon scored immediately after the interval.
MacGinty converted.
3–15.
Peninsula were staring straight at elimination.
Enter Noah Hotham.
The scrumhalf scored in the 64th minute.
Three minutes later, Hotham scored again.
Ntamack converted both and suddenly the Pioneers had transformed a 3–15 deficit into a 17–15 lead.
But New Mexico weren't finished.
Christian Dyer crossed at 72 minutes.
17–20 DIABLOS.
Eight minutes remained.
Then came the decisive moment.
With just three minutes remaining, Will Tucker crashed over for Peninsula.
Romain Ntamack converted.
24–20!
New Mexico couldn't answer.
FULL TIME: PENINSULA PIONEERS 24–20 NEW MEXICO DIABLOS.
What makes the comeback even more impressive is that New Mexico actually edged possession 52.5–47.5 and spent more time in opposition territory.
⭐ WFR TV STAR — NOAH HOTHAM
Two tries + one drop goal = 13 points.
And Will Tucker gets the knockout hero moment — 77th-minute match-winning try.

💥 QUARTER-FINAL #4
EDINBURGH CANNON 48–7 CAPITOL RHINOS
CHAMBERLAIN FIRES THE CANNON!
Nathan Chamberlain set the tone immediately.
Drop goal after seven minutes.
Penalty after ten.
Another penalty at 27.
Then Max Williamson crashed over and Chamberlain converted.
HALFTIME: EDINBURGH 16–0 CAPITOL.
Capitol finally found their way onto the scoreboard through Marcell Coetzee in the 53rd minute, George Whitehead converting.
But that merely interrupted an Edinburgh onslaught.
Williamson scored his second. Then Chamberlain crossed twice in three minutes, Teddy Leatherbarrow added another, and Jare Oguntibeju finished the job in the 78th.
FULL TIME: EDINBURGH 48–7 CAPITOL.
Edinburgh scored six tries, with Max Williamson and Nathan Chamberlain both collecting doubles.
But Chamberlain's complete scoring line was something special:
⭐ NATHAN CHAMBERLAIN
2 tries
3 conversions
3 penalties
1 drop goal
= 28 POINTS
He literally scored by every available method.
The one concern for Edinburgh is Cameron Jones, who suffered an injury listed at 2–3 games, which could rule him out of the semi-final.
