Peninsula Whalers Make Powerful Statement with 33-3 Victory Over Hibiscus Coast

In front of a packed home crowd, the Peninsula Whalers gave Hibiscus Coast a masterclass in WFR Premiership rugby, putting the visitors to the sword with a commanding 33-3 victory.

After a tightly contested opening, the Whalers completely dominated the second half. Fullback George Bridge delivered a stellar performance from the back, while playmaker Richie Mo'unga brilliantly driven the team around the field. Mo'unga controlled the tempo with an exceptional kicking display, highlighted by a cleanly struck drop goal.Up front, the Whalers' forward pack laid the foundation for the win.

Fletcher Newell and Nepo Laulala dominated the rucks and the tight exchanges, while veteran lock Isaac Ross proved that age is just a number. Even in his early 40s, Ross remained the commanding figure at lineout time.

Skipper Tom Christie led from the front, topping the tackle count once again and securing several crucial turnovers at the breakdown. It was a statement return to WFR rugby for the storied franchise.

Watching the performance from the executive boxes were several illustrious Whalers alumni, including three-time WFR champions Alec Parker, Scott Gibbs, Afato Soa'olo, and Malakai Dalai. It was a powerful return to WFR rugby by the storied franchise.
