G1RA has now completed their drafts for the coming season and the development squad is also complete.
Gaetan Monto has been playing in the youth squad for a few seasons and will overtake the captaincy for season XX while new recruit Paul Jedrasiak will be partnering him in the 2nd row as vice captain.
“ Tama Williams from NZ and the youth coach is very excited about the partnership and said: “Gaetan has been around a while and knows what the new players will be fronting. With another french lock by his side, who is not just huge but also a future International will only grow next to him and is to be the long term captain in the 2 seasons after this one.”
G1RA might not have won any Alliance trophies yet, but they have been in the top 4 almost every season.
“I think one of the reasons for that is having players for a few seasons and phasing the next generation in every season. That gives us a chain reaction of experience and it has proved usefull as some of these players then move straight into the starting XV of some of our WFR Clubs” the coach continued “but this time around we really want to get some silverware. The last 2 seasons we have made it to the semis but the Trophy, it was not enough.”
