G1RA AWARDS

image002The G1RA teams met in Transvaal for the annual awards. It was also a great chance for the players to get together and just relax as some of them will get back into action for the rest of the international season. The nice weather in South Africa is also a nice change from the cold fronts keeping Europe in check. The Awards were as follow:

Team of the season: Narbonne, for winning all there was to win this season

Coach of the season: A. de Villiers from Narbonne. He managed to pull everyone together and created a great team culture

Player of the season: Lawrence Sephaka (Transvaal Lions), as captain he pulled himself and the team together after last year’s relegation to perform very well this season.

Players player of the season: Lars Eckert, the young Berlin flyhalf came in as a new playerin his first season and made the #10 jersey his own. Pushing seasoned players onto the bench and playing like an experienced campaigner. He is deemed for higher colors and should be seen in an international jersey soon for Germany.

Highest try scorer: Johan Jackson, as he scored the same amount of tries than Medard but in 15 instead of 16 matches.

Highest point scorer: Chris Jonck – 221 points

Narbonne
MVP: Remy Martin, he helped his team out of many tight situations with tries, deadly tackles or his tireless work all over the park.

Highest try scorer: Maxime Medard – 11 tries

Highest points scorer: Lionel Beauxis – 188 points

Berlin

MVP: Alexander Widiker, the German prop put in the hard work and managed to rally the players around him together time and again.

Highest try scorer: Ruan Snyman – 4 tries

Highest points scorer: Lars Eckert – 161 points

Transvaal

MVP: Jaque Fourie, he was the backbone of the team, putting in the hard yards and lifting those around him to a new level.

Highest try scorer: Johan Jackson – 11 tries

Highest points scorer: Chris Jonck – 221 points
