Nairobi Fire looking forward to WFRXX season as squad finalised

nairobiThe East African situated Nairobi Fire have finalised their WFRXX squad, who will be looking to continue their good form from the last season before being beaten by surprise package Santiago Condors in the playoffs.

There are minimal changes in the squad for the upcoming season with only three players called up from the STAR Alliance developmental team. Zimbabwean James Forrester replaces Tiaan Snyman who never really looked comfortable in the chances he received last season. Mike Mwangi loses his place in the squad to Wilson Lavelua who was very impressive in the STAR Alliance Alliance Cup title run. The final personal change for WFRXX sees German outside back Fabian Rang called up for Victor Sudi Simiyu who looked out of sorts.

Number 8 Enos Otieno has been confirmed to retain captaincy, with Hooker Karl Aswani named as vice-captain for the upcoming season.

“We are very pleased with the calibre of development players in the STAR Alliance squad and we believe we have signed some of best, James Forrester maybe very well be fighting with Nato Simiyu for the starting first five position. While Fabian Rang maybe not have got a huge amount of game time last season but he impressed with what time he was given, and even in this strong back-line he will get game time,” stated Nairobi coach Michael Otieno.

The Nairobi management are working behind the scenes to try and revive the pre-season WFR African Challenge Championship with Durban Sports Club who are the current champions, for the WFRXX season. Further news on any developments will be released shortly.
