Capital Rugby enter Draft

capitalflag2The WFR XX Draft is in full swing and the Capital Alliance teams had to wait a while to put in their selections.

Coming in at 13th , 14th , 15th , 16th and 17th Picks respectfully the Capital Draft team were very happy with the selections .

Players who have signed up with the Capital Rugby Teams are as follows :

Wellington Dolphins [13th pick]

Melbourne Bushrangers [14th pick]

  • Tom English ,Mitch Inman , Scott Fuglistaller , Scott Higginbotham , Shota Horie , Max Lahiff , Paul Alo-Emile , Eddie Aholelei , Tom Kingston , Telusa Veainu , Tim Nanai-Williams

And the Big signature is that of Richie McCaw who has signed a 3 season Deal to captain the Southland Orca’s. The Southland board had 3 players on the radar but got their man and instantly announced his captaincy of the team .

“We thank the Capital Draft team on securing Richie for the Orca’s over the next 3 Seasons and we know he is bringing to the franchise a wealth of knowledge and leadership” said the Southland spokesperson.

We feel as we have been the poor cousins in the Capital environment but we now know they have had plans for us and it is now time for the Orcas to join the Dolphins as one of the top teams in the Capital Organization”.

Wellington in the Meantime went for youth with while Melbourne has had a complete rebuild and will be aiming for the #1 spot in Australia though the Western Reds may have something to say about that.

Doncaster was a late addition to the draft after Andy Hazell’s Retirement this week from Pro Rugby .

So they picked up James Haskell and were very happy to get his signature as well.
